Outdoor Adventures is a weekly after school program designed to give children an opportunity to explore, play and learn wilderness skills in an urban setting.
With a strong focus on outdoor skills such as fire building and the art of using a knife as a tool, children will gain confidence in themselves and learn to build community while learning and playing in a “wild urban” setting.
Outdoor Adventures allows for children to have a “camping” like experience once a week after school, right here in Ballard! Your child will become proficient in building fire efficiently and safely. They will learn a deep respect and understanding for the gift of fire.
Students will become certified in knife safety and learn skills each week that will help them become better naturalists and lovers of nature. This program will help children find a deep connection with the natural world around them and learn to LOVE being outdoors.
Our time will be spent playing nature games, learning survival skills and bushcraft, wild plant identification, wildlife tracking and creating fun and functional crafts such as burn bowls, bird feeders, basket weaving and so much more!
